Architecture of Portimao, Portugal

Architecture of Portimao, Portugal
My personal affinity for traditional architecture is perhaps most deeply embodied by Georgian and Victorian architecture but on a recent trip to the Algarve I discovered the beautiful Portimao. In particular its older buildings with a deep rooted art deco influence. A stunning backdrop to these beautiful buildings was the beautiful church founded in 1897. The raw honesty of the buildings and the rich hues were very inspiring and full of character, combined with the stunning backdrop.  The sun bleached properties had a sense of history and former grandeur. A beautiful stretch of buildings which combined many architectural styles and influences. As a designer I try to soak up inspiration wherever I am and particularly abroad where you see different styles and approaches to design and architecture. This visit was very inspiring and is a place I will return to and explore further.
